Under the sunlight, a soft and cute little girl looks especially adorable.

The little girl is lying on the shoulder of a boy about her age, with a baby-like face full of curiosity and joy.

“Can I touch this part of your head where you shaved?”

“Hmm, sure, go ahead!” The boy bent down to make it easier for the little girl to see clearly.

Qin Siting stood in the hospital corridor, facing the light, watching silently for a while. His cold eyes now reflected a gentle warmth.

“Dr. Qin, Dr. Qin!” A nurse stood at the information desk, blushing.

Qin Siting came back to reality and looked where the voice came from.

When Qin Siting turned to look at her, the nurse’s already red cheeks became even hotter, and her voice trembled: “Dr. Qin… your phone kept ringing just now…”

Qin Siting nodded, holding the medical report in one hand and pulling out his phone from the pocket of his white coat with the other. His fingertips moved slightly as he called back the number.

“What’s up?”

“Hello, Old Qin! Where have you been? Why haven’t you come back yet? Do you have to wait in line like when seeing a doctor? The child’s family has already arrived—the whole family is waiting for you!” Old Zhou said dissatisfiedly.

“Bring the person to me right away, I’ll come up soon.” Qin Siting hung up the phone without further words, turned, and walked into the elevator that stopped on this floor.

Downstairs, a little girl and a little boy were playing happily, their tiny hands scratching around, quickly turning black.

“Hey, by the way, what’s your name? I don’t know yet.” Lele stared at the little boy with big eyes, “My name is Shikao Le. Just call me Lele. Hmm, it’s the joyful Le!”

“Ahh, Lele—that’s a great name! My name is Zhou Xiaowei. You can also call me Weiwei.”

“Great! Then I’ll call you that from now on. Will you stay here? I can come see you often. Uncle Wen Ke is hospitalized here, so I visit every week.”

“Yes, Mom says I need to have surgery here. Only after the surgery will I get better and be able to go home.” Zhou Xiaowei lowered his head, twisting his chubby index fingers, looking down in sadness. “But last night, I overheard Uncle Doctor and my mom talking—they said the surgery has high risks… What do ‘high risks’ mean? Am I going to die?”

From a young age, Lele had a remarkable talent for medicine. She had a pure love for it, understood medical terms perfectly, and knew exactly what high risk meant. She crouched on the ground, watching Zhou Xiaowei’s sad, chubby face, and remained silent for a moment.

But just two seconds later, Lele quickly adjusted her mood, smiled widely, and patted Zhou Xiaowei’s shoulder like a little adult, saying, “It’s not going to happen, don’t worry! Let me tell you—” However, before she could finish, the nurse rushed over.

“Little Zhou Xiaowei! Come here, sister is here. We need to have a check-up. After the check-up, you can have surgery, and then you can go home. Don’t you want to go home the most?”

“Wah—” Zhou Xiaowei didn’t know if she was scared by the silence or thought of something, but she started crying immediately.

“Oh no, don’t cry. The check-up will be quick, it doesn’t hurt at all. Once you’re fine, you can go home right away!” Lele patted Zhou Xiaowei’s shoulder again.

“Wah—I don’t want to! I’m going to die, I don’t want to die!”

“Who said you’d die? It’s not true, Weiwei. Listen to sister, come here quickly.” The nurse seemed surprised, as if scared.

“Yes! I clearly heard your conversation that day. They said I would die. I don’t want to! I’m not going!” Zhou Xiaowei became more agitated, tears and snot covering his face. He refused to go to the nurse, turned around, and tried to run away.

Lele quickly grabbed Zhou Xiaowei’s sleeve, applied a little pressure with her finger, and looked at the crying little boy seriously. After a moment, she said soothingly, “Weiwei, don’t cry. How about I go with you for the check-up? I have time right now—I’ll accompany you!”

Zhou Xiaowei rubbed his eyes, looking at the blurred figure in front of him with tears in his eyes. After a long pause, he trembled and asked, “Really? Will you go with me?”

“Yes!”

“Okay then, let’s go together for the check-up.”

With that, Lele took Zhou Xiaowei’s small hand and walked toward the nurse, saying, “Sister, I want to go too. I’ll accompany Weiwei during the check-up.”

“Oh, great! Let’s go together!” The nurse, fearing another problem after the boy finally calmed down, took both children to the 16th floor.

The hallway on the 16th floor was different from the children’s play area—filled with a faint smell of disinfectant, creating a calm atmosphere. Occasionally, some words from family members in the examination room could be heard.

“Dr. Qin, thank you really for taking care of our child this time. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know where to find a solution!” A young mother looked at the man in front of her with gratitude, as if seeing a savior.

Old Zhou was used to this situation and didn’t react much when Qin Siting nodded. He laughed and said, “It’s okay, it’s okay. Old Qin is the best internal medicine doctor here. Later, your child will have a check-up here. We’ll observe how his condition develops. If everything goes well, the surgery can be scheduled in a few days.”

“Thank you all. Our family has been waiting for this day for a long time.” The man sitting on the sofa also had tears in his eyes.

“It’s okay. You can sit here for a while. I’ll check if the children have come. The pediatric nurse doesn’t know how to get around.”

As soon as Old Zhou opened the door, he saw two cute children.

“Doctor Zhou, the child is a little scared. He insists on being with the little girl before being examined. So I brought them both here.” The nurse explained briefly.

“It’s normal for children to be scared.” Old Zhou smiled and looked down at the two baby faces. “Say goodbye to your nurse sister. Would you two go in with Uncle to meet the main doctor?”

Old Zhou quickly took the little girl’s hand and led the two children into the room. Before he could speak, the excited little girl spoke first.

“Uncle Doctor Shuai!” Lele immediately saw Qin Siting sitting on the rotating chair. Her tiny hands quickly split away from Zhou Xiaowei and Old Zhou. Excited, she ran towards Qin Siting.

Qin Siting seemed surprised to meet Lele here. Looking at the small figure rushing toward him, his stiff body moved slightly, and he gently caught Lele, who was running with breathless excitement.
