On the second morning, Jiang Yunyan indeed didn’t cook. However, that evening, she prepared dinner, a simple fried rice dish, but it turned out quite well. Wen Yu felt satisfied, having stayed at home for three days before returning to the film set.

The filming progressed smoothly, primarily focusing on scenes in two small households. Wen Yu had finished her scenes in the middle portion and stayed on the set as a supervisor. About two months into filming, her agent finally called, inquiring about her upcoming plans.

Lately, Wen Yu had been respecting her own wishes, not blindly following Jiang Yunjin’s footsteps. Reflecting on the past half-month since Jiang Yunjin wrapped up his work and moved on to the next project without a word, her agent wondered if Wen Yu had truly broken free from the influence of Jiang Yunjin’s gaming habits.

After waiting a while, the agent asked about Wen Yu’s plans. Wen Yu, however, had not decided to leave the entertainment industry. Despite financial challenges, she had some funds invested, and she had received additional money from various sources, including gifts and loans.

Nevertheless, Wen Yu, being ambitious, sought opportunities to invest and make her money work for her. When her agent inquired about her plans, she responded eagerly, expressing interest in suitable roles.

The agent, surprised by Wen Yu’s newfound enthusiasm, sent over potential scripts. Wen Yu, after a quick glance, found two suitable ones. These scripts were related to historical dramas, one centered around court intrigue and domestic conflicts, while the other involved martial arts.

After expressing her preferences, Wen Yu received the scripts promptly. Impressed by her agent’s efficiency, she noted that most roles were available except for the female leads. During the call with her agent, Wen Yu admitted her concerns about her acting skills.

In response, her agent assured her, “Don’t worry. I’ll find a coach for you. They’ll guide you on how to portray the characters.” However, Wen Yu hesitated, fearing her agent’s renewed determination to boost her career.

When questioned about her reluctance, Wen Yu explained with a somewhat weak voice, “Well, you know, things are different now. I’ve lost interest in Jiang Yunjin, who’s married. I want to focus on my husband, but he’s a workaholic. I can’t afford to get too busy again. If I play a supporting role and become popular with my looks, I won’t have time to cultivate my relationship with him. What if, due to the lack of emotional connection, I get kicked out of the wealthy family and end up on the streets…”

Her agent chuckled, amused by Wen Yu’s theatrical reasoning, realizing that even without Jiang Yunjin, she had found a new excuse.

However, she knew the Jiang family indulged Wen Yu a lot, and Wen Yu couldn’t be afraid of this. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have pursued Jiang Yunjin so unrestrainedly before.

Liu Jie immediately retorted, “I don’t believe it.”
Wen Yu choked and whispered while covering her face, “I’m lazy. I just want to play an easy and beautiful role as a vase.”

This left Liu Jie speechless.

Never expected it to be this reason.
Was the previous Wen Yu really this lazy? It didn’t seem like it. She was willing to play any role just to stay in Jiang Yunjin’s drama!

The two remained silent for a while. Liu Jie frowned, thinking she might as well let her gain some experience. She said, “Fine, but don’t fall behind too much. There’s barely a name left for these roles. The supporting roles for both dramas aren’t difficult. Take this one. Anything further back is not worth joining.”
Wen Yu breathed a sigh of relief and immediately coquettishly said, “Thanks, Sister Liu. You’re my only sister!”

Liu Jie replied with a dry laugh.

Wen Yu sensed the sarcasm but wasn’t angry. She said, “Sister Liu, the two drama productions I chose are really good. If you have spare money, you can invest.”

Liu Jie declined, “No, I don’t trust your sweet talk.”
Wen Yu pouted, about to explain that it wasn’t just sweet talk. Despite being an excuse, she was somewhat building a relationship with Jiang Yunjin.
Recently, they almost ate together every day!
From initially saying only a few words to now caring about her life, noticing when she lacked money and even transferring her two million. Life was too good; she was starting to reconsider divorce.

Liu Jie suddenly dropped a surprise, “By the way, the television drama you invested in early last year, the Republican era drama starring Jiang Yunjin, has finished airing. The rights have been sold several times, and the investors are starting to share profits. There’s a celebration banquet; do you want to go?”
Wen Yu exclaimed, “!!!”

The surprise came too suddenly. She didn’t expect much return from the previous investment since the plot didn’t mention it, but here it was!
Wen Yu eagerly replied, “Yes!”

“Alright, I’ll go prepare a dress for you. Do you want to buy it yourself, or should I borrow one for you?” Liu Jie asked, noting Wen Yu’s changed circumstances.
Wen Yu said, “Trouble Sister Liu.”

Celebration banquet scene
The drama “The Ten Years of the Republic” successfully concluded a month ago, from its explosive start to the continued popularity even after ending, making the production team a huge success.

Apologies for that oversight. Here’s a version that includes the dialogue:

The female lead, Su Lengyue, and Jiang Yunjin’s engagement became a sensation. Su Lengyue, once a relatively unknown artist, skyrocketed to become a popular second-tier celebrity. Jiang Yunjin, already highly popular, saw a surge in fans. The supporting cast also gained recognition. The celebratory banquet attracted a large crowd, resembling a small award ceremony. Reporters were kept outside, relying on paparazzi for glimpses.

As celebrities arrived, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. One particular arrival drew attention – a well-dressed figure with expensive jewelry. It was Wen Yu, known for her affluent background. Spectators admired her jewelry, commenting on its extravagance. The flashing lights highlighted her beauty in a black dress, and even the paparazzi acknowledged her transformation.

Inside, Wen Yu, led by her manager, hastily navigated through the crowd. The hall, filled with familiar faces, offered a mix of recognition and admiration. Wen Yu, interested in investments, was introduced to some directors by her manager, but they were mostly lesser-known.

Curious about bigger productions, Wen Yu asked her manager, who explained that renowned directors often had no shortage of funds. Wen Yu worried about her recent script choices, but her manager assured her of substantial earnings as the female supporting lead.

Reassured, Wen Yu wandered, chatting with acquaintances. Her manager, with other artists to attend to, left her alone. Content, Wen Yu indulged in cake, reminiscing about missing dinner for the sake of wearing the elegant dress, longing for Jiang Yun’s spicy chicken.

Amid the celebration, the conversations of the attendees filled the air:

“Who’s that?” a newcomer asked with envy. “The jewelry looks expensive, and those diamonds on her necklace are huge!”

“It’s Wen Yu! The heiress who loves funding projects!”

“No wonder, she’s really well-connected.”

“She looks even more stunning now, effortlessly turning every photo into a masterpiece!”

“Wow, her smile is even more captivating, giving off a princess vibe!”

The flashing lights continued, capturing Wen Yu’s elegance, accentuated by the black dress that complemented her fair skin. Wen Yu, shielding her eyes from the bright flashes, followed her manager inside.

“It’s hot out there!” she remarked upon entering the cooler interior. The hall was already crowded, and Wen Yu recognized many familiar faces. Her manager, taking her around, said, “Let me introduce you to some directors. You like investments, right? Take a look, but I suggest you screen them through me.”

“Thank you, Manager!” Wen Yu replied.

With a teasing tone, her manager said, “After all, I’ve got a lazy one to take care of.”

Wen Yu chuckled and followed her manager to meet people. After chatting with some lesser-known directors, Wen Yu, though happy, couldn’t help but ask, “What about the big productions I chose a few days ago?”

“They’re in no shortage of investments either,” her manager replied, making Wen Yu sigh.

Her manager reassured her, saying, “Don’t worry. As the supporting actress, you still get a good share. You’re different – no profit-sharing with the company. I’ll take 30%, and the rest is yours, which is quite a lot.”

Feeling relieved, Wen Yu said, “That’s true.”

“This is the company’s promise. I had to negotiate hard for you. You’re getting extra perks for being my client,” her manager added.

Wen Yu smiled again, feeling content. She decided to enjoy the evening, strolling around and chatting with acquaintances. Her manager, occupied with other artists, left Wen Yu to savor her cake in a corner, thinking about the elegant dress and missing Jiang Yun’s spicy chicken.

In order to wear the evening gown, she skipped dinner, craving the spicy chicken made by Jiang Yunyan! She couldn’t understand how a CEO like Jiang Yunyan could be so good at cooking?

At that moment, a man approached, saying, “Miss, dining alone?” Wen Yu looked up and saw a middle-aged man with a rather ostentatious pocket watch, hand on his stomach.

Shaking her head, she replied, “No, two people.” The man’s expression changed slightly, feeling a chill down his spine. After looking around, he chuckled, “Miss, you have quite the sense of humor. Let me introduce myself, I’m Meng Tianming, played Shen Caihe who died for the female lead in ‘The Ten Years of the Republic.’ Have you watched it?”

Wen Yu stared at him, silent. Meng Tianming’s smile stiffened, “Miss, is there a problem?” Wen Yu asked, “Don’t you know my name?” Meng Tianming casually said, “I don’t, I’m not much in the entertainment industry, just took a role for fun due to boredom.”

As he subtly approached, Wen Yu, disgusted, slapped the uneaten cake in her hand at him, saying, “Get lost!” Startled, Meng Tianming didn’t expect her to act so rudely. He didn’t back off but grabbed her hand, saying, “Dare to hit me, you—ah!”

Simultaneously, Wen Yu’s wrist tightened, and she dodged away. Meng Tianming’s neck was suddenly seized, and he quickly knelt down, receiving another hit, utterly subdued with a shoe-clad foot on his back.

Jiang Yunjin’s furious voice echoed, “Damn you, daring to be so audacious!” At that moment, a surprised voice nearby exclaimed, “Ah Jin?” Wen Yu turned to see Zhao Qingyuan and Su Lengyue approaching, both looking astonished, especially Zhao Qingyuan directed her surprise towards Wen Yu.
