The Villainess Awakens After Marrying the Male Lead’s Brother - Chapter 07
Chapter 7
Wen Yu firmly refused Zhao Qingyuan with righteous words.
Zhao Qingyuan felt deeply disappointed, but Wei Ningning and Yu Yi were afraid that they wouldn’t secure enough investment shares, so they chimed in, making it difficult for Zhao Qingyuan to get involved.
She could only leave with a disappointed expression.
The three sighed in relief, with Wei Ningning muttering, « She seems gentle, but talking to her feels so stressful. »
« Something just doesn’t feel right, » added Yu Yi.
Wen Yu sipped her coffee, remaining silent. Indeed, nothing seemed right. Zhao Qingyuan’s manipulative skills were so refined that she had cultivated an innocent appearance, and it was challenging to point out any flaws.
Truly a well-concealed antagonist in the plot!
Wen Yu, with memories from her past life, had a character completely different from the original storyline’s Wen Yu. She wouldn’t harm finances for the sake of love and certainly wouldn’t do anything reckless for Jiang Yunjin’s pursuit.
The plot had initially detected her abnormality, causing her to lose her past life memories and manipulate her into actions contrary to her personality.
If it weren’t for the crisis exposing infidelity, leading to her awakening, she would probably still be heading towards a divorce according to the plot, collaborating with Zhao Qingyuan to deal with Su Lengyue.
However, Zhao Qingyuan was different. She was a native of this world, and her character had formed through her original family background and personal experiences.
Due to this interruption, the three lost interest in shopping, had a meal at a restaurant, and then went their separate ways.
Wen Yu had driven herself and coincidentally hit the evening rush hour on the way back, delaying her journey for over an hour.
Feeling famished, she arrived home and immediately threw herself onto the sofa. Suddenly, she noticed that the coffee table, which she had messed up this morning, was now neatly arranged. The tea cups were neatly placed, and even the shoe cabinet at the entrance had been rearranged, except for the shoes she had just replaced. Huh? Big Brother Tianluo is back? Wenyu tentatively called out, « Big Brother? » No response? Could there really be a mysterious housekeeper?
Wenyu’s mind wandered, and she shouted louder, « Big Brother! » Still no one? Wenyu lay on the sofa, staring at the air conditioner, when the door behind her opened.
A man in a deep gray loungewear walked out. « What’s wrong? » Wenyu sat up in surprise, « Big Brother, you’re home! » Confirmed! Tianluo, the elusive one, was indeed back. Jiang Yunyan responded with a casual « Hmm, came back in the afternoon, took a rest. »
Wenyu sat obediently. Although she didn’t understand why she felt like she was facing her high school headmaster, she nodded politely and asked, « I went shopping with a friend, had dinner, and came back. Did Big Brother eat? »
« Ate, » Jiang Yunyan glanced at her. As Wenyu wondered what was wrong, he commented on her attire, « Don’t sit in front of the air conditioner; it’s not good for your health. »
Wenyu responded, « Oh, okay. »
Jiang Yunyan raised an eyebrow, realizing his little wife seemed somewhat afraid of him. He wondered what he had done. Wenyu sneakily glanced at him, pretending to look away when their eyes met. She wasn’t particularly scared, and she even found Jiang Yunyan handsome in his loungewear, with freshly washed hair and a softer demeanor. Unfortunately, they were going to get divorced in the future. Wenyu sighed softly; having a wealthy, generous, and handsome husband like him, but not being hers, hurt a bit.
As he looked at her for a few seconds, Jiang Yunyan noticed her pretty face frowning. The interest in his eyes vanished, and recalling the reason they got married, he intended to inquire about her filming experience but lost interest. He said, « Tomorrow is the weekend; I have to go home. Get some rest early. »
Wenyu nodded quickly, « Okay, okay. » After speaking, she noticed Jiang Yunyan still looking at her. Trying to break the tension, she tentatively said, « Goodnight, Big Brother? »
Jiang Yunyan glanced at her deeply, « Sleep. » He got up and left. Wenyu scratched her head, not saying goodnight. Is he angry now? Weren’t things fine just a moment ago?
The heart of a man is like the bottom of the sea, unfathomable.
Wen Yu returned to her room with a belly full of doubts, unable to figure out why Jiang Yunyan suddenly got angry. With such unpredictable temper, could there be any surprises in her future divorce alimony?
Thinking about this, Wen Yu became uneasy. Everything can change, but not the money!
Lying in bed, Wen Yu felt particularly uneasy. Her recent source of joy was knowing she would always be a wealthy woman with assets, including divorce compensation, totaling at least tens of millions.
Unable to casually spend millions like Jiang Yunyan and Jiang Yunjin, she still fared much better than her last life’s monthly salary of six thousand.
If something unexpected happened now, she would only receive a measly ten million compensation, just like in most plots. It was painful.
Humans are indeed greedy beings. In her previous life, she thought ten million was a lot, but now, without the money in hand, it wasn’t secure.
Should she come up with a solution? As Wen Yu pondered, she drifted into a hazy sleep.
The next morning, a rich aroma of green onion and oil woke her up. Wen Yu, yawning, opened the door and saw a man carrying a bowl of noodles from the kitchen.
The morning sunlight outside was perfect, dazzling and radiant, filtering through the kitchen window as if casting a layer of golden filter on him, especially with an apron tied around his waist.
Wen Yu inexplicably sensed a touch of tenderness and forgot about the previous night’s events. Gaining some courage, she smiled flirtatiously, « Big brother, are you making breakfast? »
Jiang Yunyan nodded, « Go wash your face and brush your teeth, come eat. »
« Okay! » Wen Yu hurriedly responded, quickly retreating to her room for grooming.
After completing her morning routine, she rushed out. A freshly made bowl of green onion noodles appeared before her. « Eat, » commanded Jiang Yunyan.
« Thank you, big brother, » Wen Yu said crisply. The freshly awakened young girl still wore a pink lace-edged nightgown. Her fluffy headband covered her hair, revealing a face glowing with water and a cute smile.
Jiang Yunyan’s eyes were slightly deep, his big hand patting her head, « Good girl. »
Wen Yu allowed him to pat her head generously, considering it as payment for breakfast. She then happily dug into the delicious green onion noodles, a famous delicacy in Shanghai. Although she rarely had it, today’s aroma was irresistibly good!
She didn’t know how Jiang Yunyan made the noodles so tasty, and she wished she could swallow her tongue. The noodles were not greasy at all.
« Big brother, you’re really good at cooking! » Wen Yu finished eating in one go, wiping her mouth contentedly.
Actually, she wanted more, but her stomach felt full. To protect the delicacy, she resisted.
Facing the praise, Jiang Yunyan seemed accustomed, his expression indifferent. Instead, he pushed the milk she had deliberately avoided toward her, « Drink up. »
Wen Yu’s smile froze a bit, pitifully looking at him, « Big brother, I don’t like milk. »
Jiang Yunjin is a famous actor with captivating peach blossom eyes that seem affectionate to everyone. He and Jiang Yunyan are true brothers, sharing similar features except for the particularly sharp and deep peach blossom eyes on Jiang Yunjin’s face.
Without glasses, his gaze falls directly on Wen Yu, making her heart flutter unnaturally as she obediently picks up the cup and takes a sip.
It’s terrible! Wen Yu recalls her mother insisting on milk during high school to grow taller, a habit she disliked. Even in university, she’s forced to drink it by Jiang Yunyan.
Wen Yu takes a few sips and realizes it’s fresh milk. Curious, she asks, « Where did this milk come from? » Jiang Yunyan, finishing his meal, wipes his mouth and replies, « Bought it during my morning run. »
After breakfast, Jiang Yunyan changes into formal attire, reverting to his elite appearance, observing Wen Yu until she finishes the last sip of milk. He then asks, « I’ll head to work now. Do you want to go to the office yourself this afternoon, or shall I pick you up? »
Lying lazily on the sofa, Wen Yu decides, « I’ll go by myself. » She looks forward to a free lunch.
« Alright, » Jiang Yunyan agrees, « I bought a gift, leave it at the entrance for my parents when you go back. »
« Sure, » Wen Yu nods. She appreciates not having to think about what to buy.
Despite her reluctance, as the daughter-in-law, she feels obliged to contribute something. Cursing the storyline again, Jiang Yunyan finishes tidying the kitchen and leaves for work.
As Wen Yu plans to head to the Jiangs’ after her snack settles, she receives a message from Lv Yuzhu, who’s back in City A and ready to sign the contract. Excited, Wen Yu hurries out.
After signing the contract and transferring money, including 12 million, Wen Yu assures Lv Yuzhu, « Focus on filming this drama. Once it’s successful, future investments will surpass 50 million. »
Moved, Lv Yuzhu holds Wen Yu’s hand and promises to give his best. After treating him to a meal, the energized Lv Yuzhu prepares for the shoot.
Content with the signed contract, Wen Yu carefully places it in her bag, realizing it’s a significant sum after a year. Checking the time, it’s past 4 PM.
Time-consuming contract discussions prompt her to remember yesterday’s rush hour chaos. She quickly packs up and heads back to the Jiangs’, realizing that even as a small wealthy woman, she can’t escape the tragedy of rush hours.
