Summary
Jun Qingyu followed a novel where the protagonist single-handedly rose from a commoner to a marshal. After being accidentally injured on the battlefield, only a mermaid could heal him, but because of his violent personality caused by the injury, the mermaid refused to treat him.
The protagonist’s family took the opportunity to steal his token and launched an interstellar war, while the protagonist’s friends kicked him when he was down. For a time, the protagonist became the target of public hatred, truly a classic example of a beautiful, strong, and tragic character.
At this point, the protagonist was supposed to rise and start a series of comeuppance scenes, but the author abandoned the story and directly killed off the protagonist.
Jun Qingyu was so unsettled that he dreamed of being the protagonist of this book, and when he opened his eyes, he became a mermaid in that very book.

Fu Yangchuan lost count of how many times he had stood by the mermaid pool, where the newborn mermaids were only palm-sized.
The mermaids strongly resisted his contact. Watching the group of mermaids that had originally approached the shore quickly swim away as he got closer, Fu Yangchuan was not the least bit surprised.
Mocking and scornful voices rang incessantly in his ears.
How can someone like him still dare to come buy a mermaid?
If I were him, I’d just stay home and wait to die, not run around scaring people.
Fu Yangchuan’s expression was indifferent. Just as he was about to leave, he heard a startled cry.
What’s going on with that mermaid?!
Fu Yangchuan lowered his eyes and saw a small golden-tailed mermaid swimming hard against the crowd of mermaids toward him.
When it got close to the shore, the little mermaid stopped. He raised his head, and his golden eyes were filled with the reflection of Fu Yangchuan.
After a moment of silence, he crouched by the mermaid pool and tried to reach his hand deep into the water…
The little mermaid did not run away.
The little mermaid held onto his hand.
The little mermaid kissed his fingers.
The gloomy world seemed to be illuminated by a beam of light, guiding him back to the human world.
