Chapter 71: A Smooth Meeting

“Later, when they couldn’t arrange to meet, that guy started causing trouble at No. 15 High School, shouting and making a scene to force my brother to come out. But Chen Ciyi was away competing in another city at the time—how could he show up? So, for all four years of middle school, he never got to see my brother even once. And then, as fate would have it, the two of them reconnected in high school. My brother got in based on his stellar grades, while Xu Hang was admitted as a sports recruit. But No. 2 High School had a lot of students and classes that year, and my brother rarely attended school. An entire semester of freshman year passed without them crossing paths. But destiny works in mysterious ways. When the next semester started, because of Xu Hang’s damn girlfriend, the two of them finally met—smoothly, no less.”

Wang Sinan took a sip of coffee. “Xu Hang was still the same in high school—kind of edgy, calling himself the boss everywhere he went, always ordering people around. Birds of a feather flock together, and his girlfriend was no better, just as shitty as him. At school, she’d kick anyone she didn’t like or shove someone who rubbed her the wrong way. Then one day at lunch, a girl accidentally spilled some soup on her. Sure, getting soup spilled on you is annoying, but the girl immediately apologized and even offered to pay for the cleaning. But this piece of work still wouldn’t let it go and demanded the girl give her the clothes off her back right then and there. We happened to be sitting nearby. The girl refused, and Xu Hang got pissed. In his mind, he was the big boss, so his girlfriend could do whatever she wanted. If someone disobeyed, where would his dignity be? It was such an outrageous scene, such an unreasonable demand, with so many people watching—yet not a single person stepped in to stop it. Eventually, we couldn’t take it anymore. My brother had me shield the girl while he went to deal with Xu Hang.”

Wang Sinan imitated Chen Ci’s gesture at the time, pointing at Xu Hang, “I don’t pick on girls. Since you’re her boyfriend, you take her place.” With that, he dragged Xu Hang straight to the cafeteria entrance. Later, he made Xu Hang strip and run around naked in front of everyone. If he enjoyed stripping others so much, then he should do it himself. But Xu Hang refused and instantly flew into a rage. In the end, that guy who was all bark and no bite got instantly taken down by my brother—completely crushed, like total domination.”

Wang Sinan clicked his tongue twice, “But this Xu Hang is quite a character. After the student affairs office handled things in the afternoon, this bastard, to retaliate against my bro and get him a more serious demerit than his own, called my bro out for a face-to-face at night. Knowing he couldn’t win in a fight, he ended up stabbing himself and got hospitalized.”

At this point, Xu Yannuo suddenly remembered that night at the barbecue shop—the intense, hate-filled glares those boys had given Chen Ciyi, and Chen Ciyi’s casual yet scathing remark, “Oh, right. I forgot. You don’t have a waist—you stabbed it away yourself with a knife.”

So this is how it all unfolded. His fault was recorded in such a manner, yet what wrong had he actually committed? Upholding justice by rescuing a defenseless girl being bullied—what crime had he committed in that!

What surprised Xu Yannuo even more was that the legendary school bully from No. 2 High School, who was said to have beaten someone so badly they were hospitalized—a story told with such vivid detail—turned out to be a case of someone injuring themselves to get admitted.

Xu Yannuo recalled the boss’s attitude toward Chen Ciyi and how the two of them seemed like they were from completely different worlds. She turned to Wang Sinan and voiced her suspicion, “So, the girl who was bullied is the barbecue shop owner’s daughter?”
