Chapter 5

Little Love Song
October 25, 2026 0

“What’s going on? Is Mo Zhong here with Young Master Qin?” someone exclaimed in the crowd.

The entire venue erupted in noise.

“When did the Young Master of the Qin family attend such a banquet? What kind of luck is this—both the Old Master and the Young Master are here?”

“Indeed—what a remarkable day today—”

“The Han family really has great presence tonight.” The crowd suddenly became lively, and everyone’s attention was drawn to those two dignified figures.

Shi Niange also saw them; the two appeared at the same time.

That familiar silhouette—the black suit looked great on him. Without the coldness of his white coat, there was a hint of austere indifference and amusement.

It was still Qin Siting—always at the center of attention.

Shi Niange held a half-filled champagne glass, standing still, staring straight ahead without saying a word.

The crystal glass bore faint lip patterns—cherry-colored—very beautiful.

On the other side, the Old Master of the Han family heard news from the servants on the second floor: both the Qin and Mo families were present. He was overjoyed and rushed downstairs to greet them before the banquet started.

“Being able to invite Mr. Mo and Dr. Qin… Dr. Qin tonight truly enhances our home. It’s truly splendid!” The Old Master of the Han family smiled broadly and hurried over to the Young Masters of the Qin and Mo families.

“I heard the Han family has steady wealth lately. I’ve come to share in this joy.” Mo Jing Shen’s lips curled slightly, his dark eyes deep and unfathomable.

Qin Siting stood beside Mo Jing Shen, expressionless and watching coldly, without saying a word.

“No, no—only with Mr. Mo and Dr. Qin here is our Han family truly blessed!” The Old Master of the Han family felt even more proud, his cloudy eyes crinkling in a smile.

It seems Mo Zong is praising the Han family. Maybe after tonight, the Han family can even obtain a partnership with Mo Shi.

Thinking of this, the Old Master of the Han family was overjoyed, and his gaze toward others carried a hint of disdain and contempt.

“Misleading praise,” Mo Jing Shen said with a smile. “Tonight is the Han family’s home field. It would be bad for me to stand out.” After speaking, Mo Jing Shen nodded at the Old Master of the Han family and quickly walked toward the sofa corner in the hall.

The Old Master of the Han family, with a red face and a submissive expression, watched the two go. Then he gave a signal to his grandson who was standing among the crowd, watching the scene.

Han Shao was leaning against the champagne cabinet, holding ayoung lady’s hand in his left arm. He whispered something in her ear, and she immediately turned shy and pressed into his firm chest, causing him to laugh heartily.

Upon noticing the warning look from the Old Master, Han Tianyuan slowly released his hand from her waist. He waved his hand above his head and simply took a glass of red wine, then sat down casually nearby.

“Great fun by Mo Zong and Qin Siting. How about I join in for a few drinks?” Young Master Han smiled faintly, his eyes fixed intently on Mo Jing Shen’s dark pupils, as if trying to pierce them.

Mo Jing Shen was stingy with his gaze; his deep eyes were as dark as the sea. He didn’t respond.

“Is it clear whether it’s fun or not?” Qin Siting sat on a single sofa nearby, his eyes gleaming with amusement. “Han Shao doesn’t have very good eyes.”

“Oh, seems I came to the wrong place.” Han Tianyuan saw the two people looking impatient. If it weren’t for the Old Master, he wouldn’t have felt awkward at all. “All three young masters, enjoy your meal! I’ll go serve the other guests first.” With that, he left politely, without staying longer.

“Tonight, I performed two surgeries from afar, and you brought them here just to watch me defend your woman?” Qin Siting snorted. “I thought I’d see a good show—what’s this?”

After a second of serious thought, Qin Siting suddenly raised his head and said with a critical tone, “This isn’t even a minor warning from the Han family.”

Mo Jing Shen drank the red wine offered by the waiter, his dark eyes scanning the hall without saying a word.

There was a moment of silence in the atmosphere, until Mo Jing Shen suddenly said, “Want to watch a show?”

“Or what?” Qin Siting laughed angrily.

“There is a show, but I don’t know if it will work.”

Qin Siting raised his eyebrows curiously but said nothing.

“Shi Niange is here today too.” Mo Jing Shen put down his wine glass and continued calmly, “She must be looking for someone.”

Qin Siting remained still, seemingly stiff for a moment, but it was just a moment.

“What does it have to do with me? Can’t I respond to this matter without turning the page?”

“Don’t you know if we can turn the page?” Mo Jing Shen said, glancing at the man on the single sofa.

“…Alright, I’m going to the bathroom.” Qin Siting waved his hand, ignoring the criticism, stood up straight, adjusted his wrinkled shirt, and walked out of the banquet hall.

Mo Jing Shen watched coldly, his eyes darkening as he remained silent.

…“

Shi Niange always stood beside the table with champagne and red wine, observing Mo Jing Shen from a distance. Occasionally, wealthy young masters or company bosses would approach and she would smile and exchange a few words.

When Qin Siting walked out, Shi Niange hesitated briefly, but eventually agreed and quickly walked toward the rest area with her skirt lifted.

“Mo Zong,” Shi Niange said as she approached, a standard smile on her lips, “long no see.”

Mo Jing Shen nodded, seemingly unimpressed by her arrival, glancing at her without saying a word.

“May I sit?”

“As you like.”

Shi Niange wasn’t expecting Mo Jing Shen to be so indifferent. Though awkward, she still sat down.

“To be honest, my purpose for attending this party is for Mo Zong,” Shi Niange said softly. “I wonder if Mo Zong has any unique views on Shida. I’d like to discuss them with him.”

“You should call, or—just come over,” Mo Jing Shen turned his head slightly. “I can’t really say what my views are. Next time—”

“Will I definitely get a call from Mo Zong?” Shi Niange retorted, her words laced with the cunning of a businessman, yet not unpleasant. “Or maybe Mo Zong rejected Shida’s collaboration request because of the Qin family?”

Mo Jing Shen didn’t seem surprised by the directness of the girl before him. He looked at her deeply for a moment, then smiled faintly: “You’re very smart.”

“Mo Zong, your praise is well-deserved,” the girl replied without hesitation.

“Miss Shi.” Mo Jing Shen didn’t use the formal title for Shi Niange. He paused for two seconds, “Since you let go at the beginning, there’s no need to appear before him again.”

Shi Niange looked at the man in front of her, as if recalling those words, and stood still, lost in thought.

It was as if she were pulled into some distant memory.

The noise of the banquet continued around her ears—the clinking of glasses, people’s laughter, and the sound of tables moving—all mixed together.

The voice was clearly close, yet it sounded like it came from far away, miles away.

“Was something happen back then…” After a long moment, Shi Niange finally spoke, her voice soft and trembling, looking at the man in front of her with a blank, empty expression.

Mo Jing Shen frowned, clearly not wanting to answer directly, and remained silent.

The air became quiet for a moment.

It wasn’t until half the wine in the glass was gone that the man’s lips curved slightly, as if jokingly saying, “Miss Shi, you know what you did back then. Why ask others about those things?”

“His life was almost lost there. He doesn’t owe you anything.”
