The scorching kiss carried a feral nature, coming with overwhelming force.
“Mmph—”
Li Huang was dazed for a moment. The man’s pouncing intensity, like a starving tiger, seemed as though he wanted to swallow him whole.
The taste of blood instantly exploded in his mouth. He was stunned silly, and his first instinct was to flee. But the other party’s ferocity far exceeded his imagination—this was no ordinary Alpha.
And moreover, this was an Alpha in the midst of a rut.
Li Huang rummaged through his fragmented memories but couldn’t find any method to deal with this crisis. Just the fact that his first kiss hadn’t been saved for the Omega he liked was enough to throw him into disarray.
His entire being was in chaos. In his daze, he thought he was going to be kissed to death…
…
…
…
Li Huang was awakened by a beam of light piercing through.
His eyelids were sore, swollen, and heavy, and he couldn’t open them for the time being. But a fruity fragrance drifted into his nose—a sweet scent so thick it made him slightly dazed. Who was eating a peach? Among all fruits, his favorite was honey peach.
Just thinking about that juicy taste made his throat even drier. He wanted to swallow some saliva but found it difficult.
Li Huang’s fragmented memories came flooding back all at once, and he immediately understood the source of that fruity scent. He had just barely managed to crack open one eye when he heard someone speaking.
“I’m telling you, President Xing, everyone outside has their eyes on you. You almost caused a death on your first visit—thankfully this is my turf.”
The man addressed as “President Xing” said nothing, merely gazing at the glaring sunlight outside the window.
“Your rut cycles used to be pretty regular. What happened?” Lu Qian seemed to find the sweet, cloying smell in the room too much and lit a cigarette.
Seeing that Xing Yan didn’t respond, he asked again, “Is it a side effect of the special suppressants?”
Li Huang kept his eyes closed and didn’t dare move, afraid that the mad dog who had tormented him to death would pounce again. He held his breath and waited, only hearing the sounds of someone puffing on a cigarette. A hint of smoke mixed into the sweet honey peach scent.
“Your personal bodyguard is hospitalized. Don’t you have any recollection of it at all?” Lu Qian walked over to Xing Yan. “I went to see him at the hospital. Concussion, fracture of the right arm. Tsk, and you even knocked out two of his teeth.”
Xing Yan’s brow furrowed slightly, but he said nothing.
Lu Qian took a drag of his cigarette and began teasing his own taciturn and cold cousin. “Oh my, not easy. Our little Yan has finally grown up. It’s just that you’re a bit heavy-handed. This unlucky guy got tormented by you for three days and three nights—it’s a miracle he survived.”
Unlucky guy… Li Huang thought. Is he talking about me?
Seems about right, actually. I really am unlucky. Good thing I’m tough. He wondered why the mad dog still wasn’t saying anything. What did “finally grown up” mean? Could he be a little brother who just came of age? First rut?
Even if he was a little brother, that still didn’t make it okay. If you make a mistake, you have to own up to it. His whole body ached right now, especially his buttocks—the pain was the worst there. He didn’t even know if he could poop normally anymore. He definitely needed to go to the hospital for a check-up.
Li Huang secretly pondered how much in medical fees would be appropriate, and in the meantime enjoyed lying a while longer on this soft, comfortable big bed. Then the other side suddenly spoke.
“When he wakes up, help me clean this up.”
What? Hearing that unfamiliar, deep voice—not at all like a little brother’s, and cold as ice—Li Huang’s heart tightened. Surely they weren’t trying to weasel out of paying?
“Planning to head back to Beicheng already?” Lu Qian asked.
“Yeah.”
Lu Qian turned to look at his cousin. On Xing Yan’s perpetually expressionless face, a rare trace of fatigue was showing.
Though they were cousins, the two weren’t really that close—at most, they were a community of shared interests. When they were kids, they could still play together, but after reaching adulthood, joking with Xing Yan was purely asking for trouble.
“Fine.” Lu Qian agreed, about to say something else when a hoarse voice suddenly cut him off.
“No!” Li Huang shot up into a sitting position. He had just barely made out the figure standing before the floor-to-ceiling window when a burning pain exploded through him, making his entire body feel like it was on fire. He let out a yelp of “Ouch!” and collapsed back down, unable to hold back a sharp intake of breath.
Lu Qian looked at the comical unlucky guy on the bed, clutching his buttocks and grimacing. He stubbed out his cigarette and said quietly to Xing Yan, “Uncle is very worried about you. Give him a call.”
“Hiss… Don’t go!” That earlier movement of sitting up had been too rough. Lying down was truly uncomfortable, so Li Huang had no choice but to switch to lying on his stomach. He turned his head and shouted at the figure by the window, “Hey! My butt really hurts, and my arms and legs hurt too. I need to go to the hospital for a check-up. You have to take responsibility!”
Xing Yan listened to the Alpha’s intermittent gasps and then heard him clamoring about taking responsibility. His brow furrowed even tighter.
The sudden rut had forced Xing Yan to stay in Haicheng for several extra days—that in itself was a dangerous signal. Lu Qian shot him a look, signaling Xing Yan to leave first, then snapped his fingers to call in the assistant waiting outside the door.
But Xing Yan didn’t leave. Perhaps seeing that the person had woken up, he intended to handle things personally. Lu Qian had already reviewed all the surveillance footage inside and outside the club from three days ago. The coincidence was suspicious—Xing Yan suddenly going into rut in the car was something that had never happened before, and then an Alpha suddenly appeared out of nowhere, delivering himself right to the door.
And a low-quality one at that. At first glance, he didn’t seem threatening, but his face was quite handsome. Better to be careful. Lu Qian felt his cousin was also something of an unlucky guy. He patted Xing Yan’s shoulder. “I’ve already prepared everything for you. You handle it first.”
Li Huang was lying on his stomach with a limited view, only able to see that neatly dressed figure from behind. He had no impression at all of what the other person looked like.
That night in the car had been too dark, and the club had been dim as well—he hadn’t gotten a clear look at all. Forget looks—he was only hearing the other person’s voice now for the first time. For three whole days and nights, that mad dog hadn’t made a single sound except for panting. All he did was torment people, and the room had been pitch black the entire time. Trying to do anything was like a blind man groping at an elephant.
In fact, Li Huang hadn’t managed to do anything at all. He had only tried to escape once in the dark, and as a result, the mad dog had tied him up with a belt and tormented him viciously for an entire night. His body was covered in bite marks, and he had even lost control… He had never been so embarrassed in his life. He didn’t want to dwell on any of that now. Ultimately, he had no one to blame but himself for getting into the wrong car. As long as he got his medical fees, that was enough.
Hearing the door close, Li Huang guessed that the smoking man had gone out. He was just about to bring up the matter of money when a man in a suit suddenly appeared before his eyes. The suit-wearing man took something out of his briefcase, and very quickly, a check was tossed onto the pillow beside him.
“This is your compensation. Please forget about this matter.” The tone was very formulaic.
Compensation? Li Huang forgot about the burning pain and forced himself to endure the soreness all over. He turned over and slowly sat up, then picked up the check and looked at it—and was immediately stunned.
He pointed his index finger at the numbers on the check and counted one by one: “Ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, millions…” He even counted out loud. When he finished, he was dumbfounded.
“This—this two million is for me?” Li Huang had never used a check before. Seeing the suited man nod and say yes, he looked down at the check again, then suddenly raised his head and asked, “Can I really withdraw money with this? I’m not a fool, don’t you dare cheat me. I just want—”
“Give him cash.” Xing Yan’s voice cut him off.
“…” Li Huang wanted to say he just wanted some medical fees. Of course, if this mad dog wanted to throw in some compensation for emotional damages, that would be just great too.
He watched as the suited man pulled out his phone and made a call, addressing the person on the other end as “President Lu.” Before long, there was a knock at the door, and someone brought in a cash box. The suited man opened the box in front of him—bundles of cash were neatly stacked inside.
“There’s one million in cash here. You can verify it first.” The suited man pushed the cash box to the bedside so Li Huang could confirm it up close.
Li Huang hadn’t seen this much money in a long time. His eyes glazed over, and for a moment he thought he was dreaming. The suited man added that he could choose between one million in cash or the two-million check, and promised that if he wasn’t at ease, he could send someone to accompany him to the bank to cash it.
“Take the money and please forget about this matter.” The suited man reminded him once again.
Choose one of two, huh… Li Huang looked back at the check. His dark eyes gradually lit up. Then he glanced at the tall, straight figure by the window, bathed in golden light, and it was as if he had seen a living Bodhisattva. His heart suddenly cleared up. No wonder everyone was following his arrangements—so he was a big boss.
“Hey!” He shouted at that figure, unable to hide the excitement in his voice. “You screwed me for three days and three nights! My butt is blooming like a flower! And you kept biting my gland—how am I supposed to forget that?”
The man finally turned around.
Only then did Li Huang see that fair, handsome face clearly. He couldn’t help but freeze for a moment, inwardly clicking his tongue in amazement: Such a handsome young man, looking so proper and dignified, young and capable—how could he be such a beast when his rut hit?
Whatever. It’s a rut, after all. He can’t help it just because I don’t have them.
Those three days and nights of suffering weren’t for nothing! Actually, it wasn’t all pain—there were pleasurable moments too, and he got to smell that sweet pheromone. Li Huang felt it wasn’t a loss. He grinned at the man and cheerfully added, “Want to go again?”
What responded to him was a pair of cold eyes.
