Su Nian's heart skipped a beat as she turned to face Gu Yichen.
"Su Nian, you've truly treated me to quite a show!"
he said, holding his phone, his gaze dark and somewhat terrifying.
"Was this for divorce, or have you genuinely fallen for him?"
Gu Yichen gripped Su Nian's chin, forcing her to look into his eyes.
"Where did Shen Yuhuan touch you?"
His gaze became extremely sharp as he spoke these last words. Su Nian helplessly curled her lips. Anyway, even if she explained, Gu Yichen wouldn't believe her; there was no point wasting her breath. A marriage in name only, where neither trusted the other.
"Did I interrupt your good time?" Gu Yichen coldly demanded.
The smile on Su Nian's lips stung his eyes; in an instant, fury surged within his chest, and without thinking, he lowered his head and bit down. Su Nian felt pain and anger, biting back fiercely, immediately drawing blood. She mumbled unclearly, "Gu Yichen, what madness has possessed you?"
Gu Yichen froze entirely, pushing Su Nian away abruptly and stumbling back several steps. He was rarely stunned, hit by a violent shock. Had he actually kissed Su Nian? Although it was through biting, it was still a kiss in the truest sense.
"This is punishment,"
Gu Yichen stated coldly, his breathing slightly unsteady but well concealed.
Seeing the bite mark on Su Nian's rosy lips, his gaze faltered somewhat. Su Nian raised her arm, wiping fiercely with her sleeve; her lips tingled slightly.
"Disgusting!"
she glared, full of disdain. Gu Yichen's expression changed dramatically. His gaze toward Su Nian became utterly terrifying. Su Nian grew so angry that her breathing became labored, her mind spinning, and darkness clouded her vision. Already injured in the head, after several rounds of stimulation, she could barely hold on.
"Nian Nian!"
Gu Yichen quickly embraced Su Nian. Seeing blood seeping through the bandage on her forehead, he disregarded her struggles, carrying her towards the villa.
"Call Dr. Bai immediately!"

"The doctor will arrive soon; don't worry,"

The hand helping her lie down froze. Gu Yichen abruptly turned to look at her, his gaze icy and dark.
"My hands are dirty? Then who do you want touching you?" He added with a slight sneer,
"Is it Shen Yuhuan, or Shen Yuxi? Or perhaps your childhood friend, Su Xingye, whose fate remains unknown?"
Trembling all over with rage, Su Nian clenched her fist and struck him. But injured and weak, her blow landed softly on Gu Yichen.
"My brother is not dead!"
Su Nian enunciated each word heavily, staring fiercely at Gu Yichen. Su Xingye was her older brother by three years, though they shared no blood relation. Her mother, in poor health and childless after two years of marriage, had adopted Su Xingye from an orphanage; less than a year later, she conceived Su Nian. After learning the novel's plot, what made Su Nian happiest was discovering that Su Xingye was still alive. Gu Yichen fell silent for a moment, his voice lowering slightly.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned him. But you shouldn't be so sharp either. Can't we just live our lives peacefully?"
He had been provoked, mentioning Su Xingye in a moment of impulse, thus crossing Su Nian's bottom line. Su Xingye had disappeared five years ago. His disappearance had also caused Su Nian's status within the Su family to plummet.
"No need for apologies."

Gu Yichen's voice turned cold. He felt his temples throbbing violently, then recalled Shen Yuhuan's words he'd heard on his phone.
"Are you really that desperate for a man?"
Su Nian's spine stiffened. She turned around slowly, eyes wide as she forced herself to hold back tears.
"Even if I'm desperate for a man, it won't be you!"
Venting the anger and grievance churning inside her, she lashed out, "The Shen brothers are a thousand times, ten thousand times cleaner than you!"
"I'm dirty?"
Gu Yichen laughed, fury pushing him to the brink.
"Even if I'm dirty, my heart is cleaner than yours. When I was twenty-one, you abandoned me to save yourself. Do you still have the face to question me today? Do you even deserve to say you love me?"
Su Nian was utterly bewildered.
"Who abandoned whom to escape?"
"You dare ask me that?" Gu Yichen said coldly.
"Qihuang Mountain, snowy night. I saw it with my own eyes."
